Since the 1960s, gardening and horticultural expositions have become popular all over the world. These expositions showcase not only the strength and depth of the hosting cities in the horticultural industry, but also their capability to host a world-class exposition. Rather, through the medium of flowers and gardening, these horticultural expositions serve as a platform for people to share their appreciation of beauty and colors that transcend geographic boundaries and cultures. Moreover, these horticultural expositions increase awareness of our relationship with nature, and hopefully also our dedication to environmental protection.
The “2010 Taipei International Flora Expo” will run from November 6, 2010 through April 25, 2011. In addition to being a leader in the world IT industry, the host city, Taipei is also rich in ecology and natural scenery, history, culture, and humanity. Within the city there are diverse points of interest such as the Yangmingshan National Park, Beitou Hot Springs, National Palace Museum, Dadaocheng Pier, and Huaxi Street Night Market. Various horticultural events take place year-round, including the Yangmingshan Cherry Blossom Season and the Calla-Lily Festival. Taipei is a safe place to visit with a convenient public transportation system, offering tourists a unique travel experience.
The “2010 Taipei International Flora Expo” is expected to attract approximately 6 million visitors. For this event, Taipei is upgrading its public facilities and infrastructure, as well as raising citizens’ eco-awareness. As a result, Taiwan’s tourism, restaurant, and horticultural biotechnology businesses are also expected to benefit.
You are cordially invited to visit Taipei for the “2010 Taipei International Flora Expo”, as well as experience all the other attractions of our vibrant and city.
A Milestone for Taiwan
The “2010 Taipei International Flora Expo” is the first international-caliber gardening event to be held in Taiwan. Application for the 2010 A2/B1 International Flora Exposition was submitted by the Taipei City Government and the Taiwan Floriculture Development Association to the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) at its Spring 2006 meeting in Genoa, Italy. The application was granted in November the same year.
Taipei is the seventh city in Asia to win the honor of hosting an International Flora Exposition, following Osaka, Japan (1990); Kunming, mainland China (1999); Awaji, Japan (2000); Hamanako, Japan (2004); Shenyang, mainland China (2006); and Chiang Mai, Thailand (2006). Now Taipei will demonstrate its accomplishments in horticultural biotechnology in its own exposition from November 2010 through April 2011.
Different from past flora expos, the “2010 Taipei International Flora Expo” will take place in the heart of the city, spreading through its parks and along riverbanks, and featuring for the first time a waterfront entrance. Reflecting public desire for green space, the Expo site is being planned and designed with urban renewal in mind. Garden lovers and casual visitors alike will be able to enjoy not only the highlights of the world horticulture industry but also the many attractions of Taipei, helping assure Taiwan’s place in the world of horticulture.

It is Cool ! Shanghai 2011..........

Shanghai (Chinese: ) is the most populous city in China. The city is located in eastern China, at the middle portion of the Chinese coast, and sits at the mouth of the Yangtze River. Due to its rapid growth in the last two decades, Shanghai has again become one of the world's leading cities, exerting influence over finance, commerce, fashion, and culture.

Once a fishing and textiles town, Shanghai grew in importance in the 19th century due to its favourable port location and was one of the cities opened to foreign trade by the 1842 Treaty of Nanking. The city then flourished as a centre of commerce between east and west, and became a multinational hub of finance and business in the 1930s.
After 1990, the economic reforms introduced by Deng Xiaoping resulted in an intense re-development of the city, aiding the return of finance and foreign investment to the city. Shanghai is now aiming to be a global finance hub and international shipping centre in the future, and is predicted to become one of the world's main global financial centres, rivalling London and New York in this regard.
Shanghai is also a popular tourist destination renowned for its historical landmarks such as The Bund and Yuyuan Garden, and its extensive yet growing Pudong skyline. It hosted the World Expo in 2010, attracting 73 million visitors. It is described as the "showpiece" of the booming economy of China.
